Just wondering what needs to be upgraded for an airsoft aeg to use a lipoly or mabey a lifepo.
it depends what size lipo you want to run. they aren't all 11.1v. you can get 7.4v lipo that(from what i hear), is equivelant to a 9.6v. but if you are going for wicked rof(i'll take rof over fps any day, have you ever been to a field that had a restriction on rof?), you need a set of high speed gears, a high speed motor, a bad ass piston, and stronger piston head. you will also need to replace the wiring and add a mosfet if you are going for ridiculous voltage. when you run lipo without upgrading to a mosfet, you risk voltage arcing and torching your contacts.
you will also need a fantastic shim job if you want to last long on lipo.
back to the piston(the first thing to go), you will need to check the way it is lining up with the sector gear and make sure that the teeth are meshing perfectly. it can also be beneficial to upgrade to a slightly stronger spring so that your piston doesn't have a collision with your sector gear on it's return(the main cause of piston teeth breaking in a high speed set up), although you will only need a stronger spring if it's ridiculously fast.
you will need to find a balance between a strong piston and a light piston for high speed. either way, i recommend having an extra piston or two with you every time you play. i have three ready to go just in case.
