My '93 Del Sol keeps popping out of gear! I know it has to do with the driveshaft. It'll go into gear than pop?
I was leaving my work today on break and my car popped out of gear. It wouldn't go back into gear. I had to push it into a nearby parking lot. I popped the hood and took a look at what was making the strange noise and I identified it as this part - http://www.hondapartscheap.com/southbay/jsp/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=DEL+SOL&catcgry2=1993&catcgry3=2DR+S&catcgry4=KA5MT&catcgry5=DRIVESHAFT&vinsrch=no - It was spinning and making a wheel bearing kind of sound. The part I believe to be the CV Boot set (looks like a black rubber boot) was broken open and had sprayed very thick black grease around the engine compartment. The rubber piece was full of the gunk (which I know is supposed to be there, I think) and was ripped in two. It was clamped down with a silver band. The car will go into gear and stay into gear but when you try to ship if you go too fast it pops out of gear and won't shift. yes it is a manual.
I want to know what is broken
Time for a new tranny.
