help me weigh the pros and cons of these two guns.?
I am looking at the New Vaquero, and the New Model Blackhawk® Convertible with the 357 mag/ 9mm. I want something strong to stand the test of time. Not to expensive to shoot. something fun for the range, Could be used for hunting, and also for selfdefence in the coming Apocalypse. A nice well rounded single action. If these two arnt good choices what would be? It needs to be a single action revolver.
Adjustible sights are a plus if you're going to hunt. Otherwise they are more prone to breaking than fixed sights. The .357 Mag is a great defensive round as is the 9mm in the 115 to 127 grain jacketed hollow point configuration. The .357 is also the minimual deer caliber for a revolver. The 9mm ball will work great on small game. Consider also a Ruger Single Six .22 w/extra .22 Mag cylinder and the longer barrel. Its not for big game but its a handy revolver to have around during the Apocalypse! Can't reload for this one so consider stocking up. But if you're serious about this then consider instead a Ruger 10/22 rifle, plenty of extra ammo and a good .308 carbine or rifle. A good double-action .357 Mag. S&W, Ruger or even Taurus or a 9mm Glock Model 17 or even G-19 will serve you better. With the Glock you can get nightsights and hi cap and extended magazines.
