Anyone know of a camping place near Santa Cruz CA (may be in Santa Cruz) that has a bunch of art in it?
I saw pictures of this camping ground and apparently the man who owned the campgrounds commissioned local artists to make artwork that he placed anywhere and everywhere throughout the grounds. That included a huge yellow wooden chair that you could lay on, Buddha heads, paintings, sculptures and other installations. It also had a two person swing that was rigged up in the trees. I'd love to go to this place so I'm on a hunt to find out what it's called or any information about it. Thanks!
I do not know the answer. However, I can suggest who you should contact for information:
Cultural Council of Santa Cruz Art County: info@ccscc.org
Santa Cruz County Conference and Visitors Council 831-425-1234
If it is historically significant, the site may be a California Historic Landmark.
California Historical Society: 415-357-1848
In Wisconsin, there is Fred Smith's Concrete Park, constructed by a retired lumberjack beginning in 1950.
