Clamp Pressure Cord

Clamp Pressure Cord
Are there any headphones as rugged as David Clark that don't suck like David Clark?

I can't stand those David Clark brain clamps which I used to have to use at work, but I do like how ruggedly constructed they are. Particularly the cords.

For my own headphones at home, I tend to go with 20-40 dollar over ear headphones, and they are much more comfortable and sound just as good, but god damn, they just don't last. The headphones themselves are fine. It's the cords and the volume controls that wear out or break.

I know for a fact there are pricey headphones out there with utter crap cords. So therefore I know that just spending more on headphones doesn't assure me anything. It's also not easy to find someplace where you can really examine the construction of headphones, let alone check out the cords, and that's rarely addressed in reviews.

I'm just wondering if there are any headphones with the comfort of my cheap Panasonics (low-pressure, lightweight...maybe not THAT light, but close) but that can take a beating.

I don't know under what conditions you are planning on wearing the headphones but almost any "pro" headphone for about $100 or more are going to hold up very well. The cords are usually pretty sturdy when you get to that price range.

I have had a pair of Sony MDR-7509 headphones ($200) for years and they have held up very well. The industry standard "pro" headphone is an Sony MDR-7506 ($100). They are available at any good music store and online.

I used the David Clarks in the Air Force - they can be painful after an hour of use.
