What is the most comfortable holster and which gun does it hold?
I have a 6" revolver with an Uncle Mikes Sidekick shoulder holster, and I like the way it feels, but I know there's a ton of other holster/gun combinations. To make this even more extreme in carrying capabilities, I would like to know which is the best holster, or pocket holster, you know of. After your choice of holster, that you feel is the best for either safety, strength, or comfort, name a type of firearm it would hold.
The only reason you like the feel of that Unlce Mikes - is because you have never tried on a decent holster. Not that this is a bad thing. It is a good thing you have used a Uncle Mikes - because when you try out a Galco or a Bianchi holster your eyes will light up, water - and you will fall in love.
Revolvers are not comfortable - semi-auto pistols are. About the most comfortable gun you can carry is a Walther PPK/s in a Galco or Bianchi holster. This is a pistol that has nothing but round edges - nothing to snag on your clothing, nothing to dig into your side - and it is a well balanced pistol. Using a sholder rig or a hip holster by Galco - in 5 minutes you will totally forget you are wearing it.
Galco holsters are made for a specific make and model pistol. They create an exact duplicate mould of the gun and work the leather to perfectly the lines and curves of the gun. This gives a holster that has zero slop/movement - which means the gun will not wear off the blue or shift when your run.
I have some Bianchi holsters from the late 1970's and they still work and look as nice as the day I bought them even after moderate use.
Good leather is a good investment. But, it is addictive. Once you try on a good holster - you will never go back to a Uncle Mikes.
I have picked up allot of nice leather on EBay. Go to Galco or Bianchi and get the specific model number of the holster you want - then do a search on ebay. If none come up - simply click the 'save search' and check the 6mo or 12mo option - and ebay will send you an email for the next bunch of months when ever the holster you want is listed. I have picked up some nice $300 Galco Rigs for $45-$65. Sweet!
