What do you think is the best gun for beginners?
I'm planning on buying a handgun, and since it'll be my first time having one, I wanna know what kind of gun would be recommended for beginners. I have three choices which I like: The Walther P22, the Kel Tec PF-9 and the Glock 26, but other suggestions would be fine. I want to have a gun that is compact and light enough to be carried comfortably and easily by small hands (like the ones with polymer frames), has easy to learn and reliable safety features, is accurate enough (preferably one that I can also take to the gun range for practice), is easy to clean and maintain, and is suitable for CC and home defense. Thanks.
Mang, that is a very important and personal question you've asked there, and one that only you will really be able to answer for yourself. There are several considerations to take into play when making this all-important choice.
First and foremost is a proper fit. It's got to fit your hand comfortably, naturally, and properly. You don't want a handgun that is too small for your hand or just plain feels awkward. Go to the gun shop and don't be afraid to have the clerk hand you each gun in his inventory. Hold each one and let your hand and mind make the decision. There will be one that "just fits."
You've indicated the fact that you're new to the sport, and that leads me to believe you'll want to go to the range and fire off a lot of rounds - both to get a feel for the gun and also to practice so you'll become a good shot. If this is the case (as it probably is), you'll definitely want to look at a .22 handgun. This is where the Walther P22 really shines. Just about every other caliber is very expensive and some are very hard to find.
.22lr bullets are quite cheap and are readily available just about everywhere. You'll be able to afford to fire off hundreds of rounds at the range for the same cost as a few magazines worth of the other calibers. The Walther is very accurate and you'll have an absolute blast (pun intended) with it at the range. Plus, it looks really cool!
As you can tell, I'm leaning toward the Walther for you for every reason you've indicated in your question. Very accurate, lightweight, reliable, and has every safety feature you can think of including a trigger lock, magazine disconnect (cannot be fired without a magazine inserted), and several ways to customize the weapon to fit your hand even better. It's also relatively easy to take down & clean. This only leaves the question of CC and home defense.
While Fatefinger offered some great advice for you in his response to your question, he's absolutely wrong in stating the .22 isn't suitable for defending yourself or your home. I'll not get into the argument over which caliber is best for defense because there is no answer. But I promise you a .22 will do the job if you need it to. You will be JUST FINE using a .22 for CC or defense.
I urge you to read this document:

It should do well to dispel any myths over what caliber bullet is best. In summary, it all boils down to where the bullet goes... NOT how big the hole is.
One more piece of advice for you, Mang. Have you looked at a Walther PPK? It is just about the perfect handgun in my opinion. I'm talking about an original German-built PPK or the imported InterArms version and NOT the Smith & Wesson copy (in which they screwed with the design & flawed it). It's simple, gorgeous, accurate, reliable, very small (perfect for CC) and deadly. The all-stainless construction also adds merit to the choice.
Do well my friend, and welcome to the sport.
