Dark navy blue book with white weird spots all over the cover. What is it? Mold?
The book's been in a corner with other books and papers. Not all of them have it, though they've been there for around the same time. It couldn't have been there for more than 2-3 years, though I'm sure I've taken it out to read during that interval. I've already wiped it with a moist towel and dried it, it's still there. It's a paperback.
Use a bleach solution to wipe the book. It is most probably mold. The type of finish on the book's cover is mostly the reason why some books are more inclined to get mould rather than others. It also is more likely to show on darker colours than lighter ones. I am quite sure this will do the trick. Make sure that the book is thoroughly dry before you return it to the bookcase. If you have a dehumidifier you can run it from time to time in that room.
