i recently inherited 5 bow and arrows and a crossbow. i have a string with 2 leather ends that fit over the ends of the bow(just a average string)? what is this? and i have a 1/4 in string doubled over and wrapped in a thick bendy plastic with a blue circle at the end not doubled over (circle is about 1 1/2 long what are these
The string with the leather ends is probably a bow stringer. I use one to string my 70 pound long bow. It can also be used for recurves. One pocket is usually slightly larger. Make sure the bow string is in the grooves at the bottom of the bow and slide the larger end over the bow tip. It should cover the string and keep it in the slot. Place the smaller end over the top limb end. You can still see the groove. Hold the bow by the grip, stand on the center of the bow stringer and lift. As you lift the bow the limbs will bend and you can slide the bow string into the top groove. To unstring the bow Just place the stringer on the bow, lift and slide the string out of the top groove and let it slide down the limb.
