Will this ammo kill whitetail deer?
I purchased a box of Hornady Custom .308 Winchester 150 grain SST Interlock ammo, and I was wondering if this ammo will kill a whitetail deer efficiently and not just wound them? I don't want my deer to get wounded and run away, I want to be able to harvest it with the least suffering possible for the deer. By the way, it has what appears to be a red polymer tip.
The rifle I will be using is a DPMS Panther .308 Carbine with 16 inch barrel, plus Eotech 512 red dot sights, and a collapsible stock. I am hunting in East Texas and yes we can hunt with AR rifles over here.
Yes, the SST is an awesome bullet--I use it both in my 7MM Rem. Magnum and my .270.
I used a 139 gr. SST out of my 7 MM RM on a LARGE Kansas mule deer last year and it was a one-shot kill.
