Universal Health Care?
If we have universal health care I think...
we should not have to pay for smokers who develop cancer. They knowingly got cancer from a habit that they has certainly been proven to kill.
Socialistic health care is bad because in the US everyone survives prostate cancer while in England it is 77% survival rate under their system.
my employer will drop my health care program if universal health care is created. He said so himeself
If someone breaks their legs doing some stupid stunt on a skateboard, my tax dollars should not go towards his care.
If some eats themselves to obesity why should I pay for their stuff.
The point is I am healthy, injury free and now the government is thinking about making me pay for everyone's problems. I take care of myself so their really is no benefit for me.
The benefit to you is that you will live in a healthier society where people ar more productive and more mentally healthy too. Your relatives and all of your friends will also have better health.
The people of your community will spread fewer diseases amongst themselves and will be able to handle various disabilties better.
Your health could change in a heartbeat, or you could lose your job or have an accident and require care. That is risk that you would not have to worry about with universal health care.
The best kind of insurance has the largest pool of participants, so including people with all kinds of different risk is better than having a small pool of people.
There is also the strong incentive of better preventive care.
All of these things are social responsibilities and part of being a good citizen. They have nothing to do with selfish feelings about benefits, but all of the things mentioned above will benefit you.
