I have my hunters safety card and I have a 15 foot boat with a 15hp engine. I have a 12ga Remington 870 Express. I know I need a blind for my boat and some duck decoys and a duck call. What else would I need ( separate licenses, other equipment). And where is a good place for that in MD?
Well you are off to a good start.
You will need a small game hunting license, a federal and state migratory waterfowl stamp, waders (in camouflage), floatation device (in camouflage), a good retriever would be nice, non-toxic shot shells, camouflage rain gear, Decoy bags, weights and lines for the decoys, and there is always all the other wonderful toys. You should be able to get all your stamps from the local post office. Your gear can be obtained through cabela's (cabela's.com) or gander mountain (gander mountain .com), or any other large sporting gear store even walmart.
As for places to hunt - most out of the way lakes , sloughs, swamps, and rivers hold ducks and geese, but your state will have regulations concerning distances( from population centers or domiciles) that you can shoot from. Regulations can be obtained from the maryland D.N.R.
My area of choice to hunt would be Chesapeake bay or the ocean.
The Atlantic flyway goes right along the coast and there is another incoming branch going over the upper Chesapeake bay area.
