will co2 freeze an electric paintball gun?
ok, i am looking into buying a smart parts ion, and as we all know, it has electric componets. I am wondering that if i used co2 with the gun, would it freeze the electric componets, or in any way mess up the gun.
thanks!
Guns like the Ion can't use co2 because they have solenoids. Solenoids are small electronically-controlled valve systems. Plain ol' compressed air running through them is fine but the problem with co2 is co2 fills are mostly liquid - if that liquid gets in a solenoid, it'll freeze & seize, usually rendered useless after that.
The reason why guns like spyders & tippmanns can use co2 is because they don't have those solenoids. The most liquid co2 can do to them is ruin an o-ring or two, which is easily & cheaply replaced.
