Is a Savage 110 a good rifle for a beginner?
Where would be a good place to purchase a Savage 110 for a reasonable price. Is there a better model, what other guns should I look at for deer-elk hunting? Also, what would be a good scope for like $250 and under?
I own several different calibers and models of rifles. One happens to be the Savage 110 in 25.06 caliber.
I use it primarily for varmint hunting. Specifically coyotes. An have found it to be an excellent gun. The “Accu Trigger” works great-for me. Have no negatives about Savage 110 models.
For elk? 270 is a very good caliber. Been around for years and is certainly a proven round. I’ve the 7mm and 30-06 calibers but not in savage models.
I lived and hunted in Colorado and Wyoming for numerous years. 300+ yard shots are more the norm than the unusual. Thus a good quality scope is certainly required. Numerous brands to choose from. No reason to break the budget when you choose. But spending a few dollars more is a very good investment.
I do not profess to be an expert on anything. Will though recommend at least get a 3x9 widefield model.
