Springfield 1911 Loaded or Springfield XD (45 ACP)?
I know it's been asked here before, but I have add'l qualifications & info that may affect your answer... First, I don't plan to carry concealed. Just the range, home, and the mountains. I don't have huge hands. Have shot a Glock before, couldn't hit a thing, ditto a 686, shot a 1911, was dead-on right away, perfect fit... Two local gun shops trying to pitch me the XD like it's common sense, 'the wave of the future', and so forth...
I primarily shoot long guns 30-06, 12 ga etc. My only auto is a 22LR. I'm not into throwing a bunch of lead, I like to relish my shots and enjoy being outdoors. The cost difference of 1911 Loaded vs. XD ($200) gives me pause. Maybe I'd get used to the polymer gun??
Anyone make a similar choice, and, any regrets?
Thank you in Advance
The XD lineup of pistols are excellent handguns. And I am not a huge fan of the 1911 platform. Just does not feel good in my hand. The gun you should choose is the one that fits and feels best in your hand. That is the one you will shoot best with. I do believe that the XDs are better than Glock in line of grip feel and fit and angle. I am sorry I cannot give you a definite buy this or that...I can only tell you what I am comfortable with and what I see in the firearms I am looking at buying. I would take the XD and not look back.
