I will shortly be attending a formal event in full Highland attire.. which, by tradition, includes a small knife, worn in the top of one of the knee-socks associated with the kilt.
It's not concealed - in fact, the whole point is that it's discourteous to carry a concealed weapon in polite company, so you take it from your sleeve and stick it in your sock, where all can see it.
My concern is that I'm not familiar with weapons laws here in Florida - does anyone know if I'm allowed to carry a knife in this fashion in a public place in Florida?
It's a small, 3" fixed blade, in a sheath, if that makes a difference.
Any tips, anyone?
THe problem with the posted statutes is they all refer to concealed weapons... this is exactly the opposite, so it appears not to be covered...

F.S. §790.001 (13): (13) "Weapon" means any dirk, knife, metallic knuckles, slungshot, billie, tear gas gun, chemical weapon or device, or other deadly weapon except a firearm or a common pocketknife, plastic knife, or blunt-bladed table knife.
