I have a very good paintball gun I just finished upgrading and I am now moving on to a tippmann 98 custom I got for free from a friend. I have it cleaned and it is in pristine condition, and I have done some research on worthy upgrades for that particular marker. One that caught my attention was the flatline barrel, and I am interested in your opinions on the 98 flatline and some of its pros and cons.
Honestly, no. There are too many variables that affect the projection of a paintball for a simple barrel to fix. The Flatline makes the paint spin so that it will travel further, but not many paintball fields are long enough for this to be worth it. Also, the many variables decrease the accuracy as distance increases. So, even if the barrel could make the paint go farther, it will be even less accurate.
90% of accuracy is paintball comes from paint to barrel match. The only way to increase your chances with this is to purchase a barrel kit, which will include several bores that can accomidate all paintball calibers, as they are very inconsistant when it comes to sizing. Barrel kits such as the Smart Parts Freak, Dye Ultralite, Sly, CP, Stiffi and Deadlywind would be your best bet for accuracy.
