Gun Board Upgrade

Ok, I upgraded from the stock board on my Ion and got a Blackheart. I installed it yesterday, but the chirping is barely audible. I got the board from my good friend and he said its never really been loud. The chirping is one of the main features of the Blackheart, but I have to put my ear against the gun to even faintly hear it. I know it's not the battery because I've tried different ones, and it's not my gun because I put it in my friend's Ion and it did the same thing. I also considered that the speaker could have been positioned wrong in the installation, but I took the whole thing out and it was still almost impossible to hear. I can't seem to find a volume control or anything like that, so does anyone know if there is one?
If not, I don't think my friend has the box or receipt, so if the board is messed up, does anyone know if SmartParts will take it back?
