Ruger LCP, Glock 26 or Springfield Armory XD Sub-Compact.?
Argue the pros and cons of each, my sister is looking for a concealed carry and she likes these 3.
Please give the price both new and used that you think this gun should retail for.
The gun would probably be carried in an inside-the-pocket holster.
I have shot all three of these guns. I like them all and any of them would make a good choice.
Ruger LCP
Pros:
only one of the three you mentioned that will fit in a pocket holster. (The DeSantis nemesis works great.)
Inexpensive: MSRP $330 (I picked one up for $310 and the chances of finding one used, forget it not going to happen for a LONG time)
Easy to clean
lightweight
reliable (I have over 500 flawless rounds though mine)
20% off accessory coupon when you register the gun with Ruger (I used the coupon to buy extra magazines.)
comes with built in nickname (Elsie P sorry, couldn't resist)
no manual safety
Cons:
Difficult to actually find. (They are on indefinite backorder, so if you can't find one in stock somewhere you're going to wait a long time to get one.)
6 round magazine
difficult to get slide to lock open (it does not lock open after last round and when you need to lock it open and 'step behind the yellow line' it can be tricky to accomplish, I'm getting better with practice)
need to dab paint on the front sight
limited selection of available holsters (that will change over time)
no manual safety
Glock 26
Pros: lightweight
small
proven track record
available high capacity magazines
huge selection of available holsters
Cons:
more expensive than the LCP MSRP $600 - $650 (should retail new for $500 - $550ish) depending on model
my small hands can't get a comfortable grip on any glock (or any gun I've tried with a double stack magazine for that matter)
difficult to find used, those that have them keep them
XD
Pros:
small
lightweight (very similar in size and weight to the glock 26)
less expensive than the glock MSRP $543 (should be able to find one new retail for $450ish)
most come with holster, magazine loader, and double magazine pouch
grip safety (I personally like that)
easy to clean
Cons:
difficult to find used, again those that have them like them and keep them
