I may buy a WASR-10 tomorrow and I have a few questions?
It's brand new, with pistol grip, 2 30-round clips for the 7.62x39 mm and I have a choice:
W/O muzzle break: $527.99
W/ muzzle break: $567.99
1. At first I thought well, of course I'll get the muzzle break. Then I read some stuff online about it increasing the perceived rapport of the gun, to the point that it might cause permanent hearing loss. What's your experience if you've shot both? Is it worth it to pay the extra for more accuracy?
2. 7.62x39 mm is getting scarce. I can reserve this gun via phone tomorrow, but won't be able to pick it up till Memorial day weekend. I'd like to get at least 100 rounds. Do you think that's enough time to scare up some ammo for a major gun shop?
3. Am I paying too much?
Thanks a lot for your advice! This will be my first semi-auto rifle purchase.

This is for home protection/ the start of a semi-auto collection? Again thanks.
1. you should always wear hearing protection when firing it for fun anyway. Dont worry about the brake being on there. If the one w/o brake does not have a threaded muzzle I would pass ,as this will most definitely be an evil feature if a new AW ban is passed, and you will be glad you got it when you could.
2. 7.62x39 is hit or miss in my area right now. Get what you can but don't overpay, as I have a feeling the ammo supply/demand bubble is about to burst. My shop has a bunch of it in stock right now.
3. Unfortunately, those prices seem to be about the going rate right now. I got my SAR1 in 2003 for $325 but those were the old days.
FWIW 7.62x39 isnt the best choice for home defense because of the over penetration issue. The AR15 is a better choice for that. But you will be happy with the AK regardless. Everyone should have at least one.
