just need some help choosing a good conceal and carry holster. This might not be such a problem is i were a skinny guy, but i'm not. I am pretty round in the belly and have broad shoulders. So I'm looking for something that will not dig in my side or a good shoulder rig. Also thinking of using a paddle holster in about the 9 o'clock position (i am left a handed). But i was wondering about setting it up for a reverse draw. Anybody out there could give me some help i would appreciate it.
Do you prefer an IWB (Inside the Waist Band) or outside? The left-hand requirement may provide some difficulty. Do you already have the weapon? Metal or polyymer frame? Vertical or canted?
I can highly recommend Galco products for 1911 models and their clones. Their Fed Paddle or Yaqui Slide Paddle are good outside, high-riding holsters. Fed Paddle has forward cant with full retention, the Yaqui Slide Paddle is vertical with minimal retention and can be worn on the opposite hip.
Two of their IWB holsters that I can recommend are the Scout, which is now called Scout II, with a forward can't, and the Royal Guard for vertical orientation (I am not sure if this one is discontinued). For IWB, I found a forward cant to be more comfortable.
As for cross-over draw, I cannot really recommend anything other than parroting what instructors have told me about not drawing your weapon's muzzle across your mid-section for presentation. It's a no no. But that is for you to decide.
