I need to get something I can use to boil water and keep it boiling to clean the skulls off animals ill be hunting. I also don't want to spend too much just something that is cheap and small. Does anyone have any suggestions. Theres so many different kinds and fuels, etc, not really sure which one to go with.
I forgot to mention I cant use an open fire, one because im right next to a firehouse and two in the city. I have a grill but its a charcoal grill. Ive been told that it wont get hot enough but I dont know if thats true either.
You can use a normal propane or natural gas burner. It's not heat, its time. You don't want to get the water boiling, just to a good simmer. Boil it and you risk cracking the bones. So basically you bring the water to a simmer and add a cup of sodium carbonate. You will want to take out the skull and remove material every 45 minutes it gets to a consistent temperature..
What's important is the container you use is NOT aluminum.
