my boyfriend buys a new knife every other freakin week, because he uses them a lot at work, so i wanted to get him an electric knife sharpener. In the pictures and everything they only show kitchen knives. Do pocket knives work with it too?
Electric sharpeners will work for pocket and other knives just fine, except for the thick ones.
The only problem is that most of the electric sharpeners have either one grit, or two which maker really coarse edge, and what's worse most of them can easily burn the edge, fast spinning abrasive wheels can easily overheat the edge.
If you get an electric sharpener, make sure it has burn protection. Chef's choice pro sharpeners have it, don't know about the others though. Those are a bit pricey, and you didn't say what your budget was.
As an alternative, you can get either spyderco sharpmaker or edge pro:
Bother good sharpening systems and more universal than electric ones.
