I reload with a Lee carbide die set and use the factory crimp die at the end. I am very specific about the correct procedures. My pistol cyles just fine with Winchester 230 gr factory ball ammo, but my reloads mostly jam. The cartridge will lack about 1/8" of being fully chambered. All I have to do is push the slide forward to chamber the round. I have compared all the physical aspects of my reloads to the Winchesters, and everything seems to matchup. I am seeking advice from anyone who knows what is going on. Thanks
Thanks to all for the answers. I have been using the full length resizer as per the instructions, and I have been using the factory crimp die as the last step. I will try adjusting for a little more crimp. I was using a col of 1.250, but measured a factory round. It is 1.265. Here is my recipe: Winchester brass that I have shot, CCI large pistol primers, 8.1 gr of Accurate #5, Hornady 230 gr jacketed rn bullet. I will make the suggested adjustments and try again.
2- the case overall length may be at or over the factory ammo your pistol likes, make sure to also mike the base of your brass and see if it is larger about 1/8 from the base. this could also cause the gap your seeing on the reloads.
3- Check the chamber on your barrel and see if you have a burr or a tight spot in it. If you take the barrel out and slip a factory round in and then one of your reloads, see if they both feel the same. If they both feel rough try polishing the chamber. If your reload is rough then you need to adjust the size or taper.
