high pressure sodium in cheap clamp lamp?
can i run a high pressure sodium (HPS) light bulb in one of those cheap clamp lamps from lowe's or home depot?
No. Best reason is that the bulb has to be enclosed be hind glass or plastic during operation because of the possibility of "explosive failure". The enclosure will protect you from flying shards of glass. The irrelevant reason is that it requires a ballast to get the required voltage.
