Didn't practice for violin much, any tips?
I take violin lessons every tuesday at 4, and this week, I was so busy, I only got to practice today. I have a duet tomorrow, and I'm freaking out! I have tomorrow to practice, and that's it! What can I do? Please, someone give me tips? There's one part of the duet that I'm struggling on, and I don't want to embarrass myself and the other girl!
Hey, I know exactly how you feel- same thing for me right now! but here are a few tips that work for me when I have a difficult part that I have to play:
!. Have a good look at your teacher's comments before you start.
2. DRINK A GLASS OF WATER!!! Really Important, this one.
3. Go for a march! Don't know how this works, but I know that it helps coordination, which is really important in violin.
4. Connect your fingertips.Make a figure of eight with your body.Again, this helps coordination!
5. Slow practice. Concentrate on breathing- making sure you get enough air, and imprint the sound of the correct notes in your head.
6. Isolate the passage that you are having difficulty with. Don't try to play the whole piece through, work on the hard part.
7. Then organize a practise schedule!Making the habit is the hard part. Having a alarm set at the same time each day will help build the habit.
hope these work as well for you as they do for me =)
