***Paintball Tippmann... Which one to get?*** help please!?
i just went paintballing... and had a blast. so now i want to go out and buy my own gun. i've been looking around, and tippmann seems offer some good kits with fog resistant masks and guns that can be upgraded to look pretty sweet. i play as more of a one shot - one kill kind of player. defense, sniper... that's my favorite. but i really dont know a whole lot about which brands are good, and tippmann has 98 custom pros, A-5s, and X7s... and i dont have a clue which is the better one to buy. figure i have about 200-300 bucks to buy everything i need to play, and i'd prefer a sniper style gun, meaning i need an offset hopper so i can use a scope... any ideas on what i should look for? is it safe to buy used? how often would i need to be repairing my gun? is one gun more accurate than another?
any help on anything related to this stuff would be great.
please fill me in so i can get out there and start picking players off. : )
The Tippmann A5 will be the most versatile and is really the best.
A5 is the next up from the 98C and the X7 is an A5 in a MilSim body.
Sniper, watch this:
Scopes are only good for looks on a paintball gun since they will see further and be more accurate than the paintball will ever be.
Don't waste your money buying a mask with an anti-fog lens or coating. They don't work, anti-fog sprays only last about 10 seconds. Instead, buy a mask with a Thermal Lens. A thermal lens actually keeps the fog away and in areas with high humidity, a fan is sometime needed in addition to the thermal lens.
One gun is not more accurate than another.
Accuracy comes from a good paintball and a good paintball to barrel match to where the paintball can be easily blown out of the barrel but not roll out or get stuck.
Some good paintballs are Nelsplat and Special Forces.
With Tippmanns, its fine to buy used. One of the first things to wear out on an A5 is the cyclone ratchet but that typically only happens with high rates of fire. A simple lifetime fix is a Tech-T vortex ratchet.
Most people want to be a sniper when starting paintball but there really is no snipers. There are people who use stealth and ambush but no snipers since paintball shoot the same distance with the exception of flatline and Apex barrels (apex superior when installed on better barrel). The problem with the flatline or the apex is that the farther the paintball travels, the less accurate it will be and at the longer ranges, the paintball slows down and is more likely to bounce rather than break.
