Are ceiner kits okay in AR's?
I want a ceiner kit for practice, but i read somewhere that shooting .22 will mess up the rifling, destroy the gas tube, and ultimately kill your gun. Is this true? I am not concerned about accuracy, but should I buy a dedicated upper?!
Ceiner makes the best conversion kits out there, in my opinion. The .22 lr kit won't hurt the rifling at all, the soft lead bullet is the same diameter as the .22 round which is .22 also. .22lr is the dirtiest round out there using modern powder, so yes, it will foul faster and you need to clean the gas tube well afterwords, as you do the entire firearm. But that is all part of cleaning the AR anyway, just more often and much messier.
