I'm thinking of buyin a new bdc scope for my Marlin 22 wmr rifle. i was just wondering if it would be worth buying for a rifle with a small caliber like my 22 mag. would i be able to use it affetively by aiming with the reticles. how could i sight it so that i could use the reticles.
Please this is very important for me. note that i mainly hunt for rabbits.
I have rarely had a shot at a sitting rabbit. Nearly all of my shots have been at rabbits on the run. A scope is very slow sighting and is sort of awkward for a quick shot at a running animal. My shots at rabbits are fairly short distance shots. I have never considered using a scoped rifle for rabbits.
Scopes seem more useful for long range shooting, like a 223 on varmints. I have used a scoped shotgun (slug barrel) for deer hunting. Those shots are generally less than a 100 yards (about as far as a slug is accurate). Even then, I found the scope slows the sighting process.
