question for my book, futuristic fantasy?
ok, so the goblins went off in a shuttle hundreds of years ago (all of them), they still had the modern guns, assault rifles that use bullets, but then the guys in the book are super advanced, lasers and more starwars like stuff, just not light speed, they find the goblins, they greet them with open arms and the goblins greet them with shotguns, should i use real gun names for the goblin guns or fake ones?
I would say fake. All throughout literature, Goblins had a separate language, so it's fitting they use different names for weapons. Also, it's fun to make up new names for creations. You can also take the real name and tweak it, so when readers find them, and figure out the root, they get that moment of pride for figuring it out.
