I am a Sophomore in High School and am lloking to pitch in college for a D-2 or D-3 school. My fastball is only at 70 MPH but i have like 4 other pitches that have really really nasty movement. Do I have a shot at pitching for a D-2 or D-3 college? If not, what are some good drills to use to get my velocity up, and to get me ready to tryout for college baseball? You will need to do strength training on your arm. That is just not enough speed. There are exercises that you can do that specifically target your pitching arm. You should also try to get a coach, separate from your high school coach, to examine your technique to see if anything more can be squeezed from your arm as it is.
You might be able to pitch in D-3, but I'd really want to see another 10 MPH if I were you.
