I am interested in adding a compensator/muzzle break for my new Mossberg 500 Cruiser pistol grip 12 gauge shotgun with extended mag (8 shots). I am looking for a compensator to reduce recoil similar to those that are available for the AK 47 and ARs.
In terms of pump-action shotguns, there's really no "easy way out" - you're not going to be able to drastically reduce recoil, regardless of any modifications you do. The muzzle brake on the roadblocker series 500 is really just for looks; it doesn't reduce recoil by any noticeable amount. One very big issue with it is that when it first came out, it had a tendency to shoot lead shot through the sides, toward the shooter. I'm not quite sure how Mossberg acquired the rights to produce such a muzzle brake (I'm fairly sure Barrett had a patent on it), but it has much more effect on a large-caliber rifle (i.e. .50BMG) than a 12 gauge.
That I know of, there's no way to attach the muzzle brake to the end of a preexisting barrel. You'd have to purchase a roadblocker barrel with the attachment.
