In aquarium fishes tail turns white and starts reduce in size and dies one by one why? how can be prevented?
your fish are suffering from "fin rot", where the tails start getting a whitish colour and start decaying at the ends (in some cases, you might see a brown line at the end of their tail fins if you look closely).
slowly & gradually, this starts spreading & covers the entire body.
by this time, the fish has become less active, wont swim more & eventually dies, if treatment is not given.
this disease is contagious & once a fish catches it, it can spread to other fishes as well.
most commonly seen on goldfishes.
treatment:
fairly simple one.
1) firstly change the aquarium water.
contaminants in your aquarium water are the major culprit. take care that you do not fill water directly from tap. & chlorinated water is a strict no no too. fill some water from the tap in a bucket & keep it for a couple of days. by this time any chlorine in the water goes away & the water is safe for fishes.
2) secondly go to a good fish / pet store & ask them for medicine for fin rot. it comes in small bottles & is usually green in colour & not much costly too (about 25-40 rupees).
3) seperate the fishes showing the symptoms & keep them in a seperate tank with clean water. add 3-4 drops of the medicne for finrot or as per the instructions on the bottle. after about a week or so, the fishes will start to recover. if you do not have a seperate tank, you can add the medicine in the common aquarium too. it has no effect on healthy fish.
