I was thinking of buying a topco stock for my 53 Russian SKS?
The problem is i don't know how to remove the gas tube from the wood stock. I don't want to damage the original stock of the rifle but i want to modernize the rifle. Does anyone know of any online instructions on how to go about the complete transformation from old world stock to modern stock, just to be sure i dont screw anything up
When you take the gas tube assembly off the gun, you will notice the metal end cap that holds the wood section on are held in place by a rivet. You need to carefully drill out that rivet and the metal end cap comes off and so does the wood.
Having a Dremel tool with a small round grinding wheel makes this easy work. Simply grind the ends of the rivet off and then punch it out.
