How Do I Make My Soft Lead Harder?
I have a plethora, (nice word huh?) of dead soft lead. I'm in construction, and all of my roofing buddies save the old lead roof jacks.
This lead is perfect for muzzle loaders, but I shoot revolvers. I've tried to trade it for wheel weights on local forums, to no avail.
Linotype is out of my budget. I'm poor, and cheap.
I need an inexpensive source of tin, or another way to harden what I have.
I probably have ~#400's on hand, cast into 1# and 1/2# ingots.
Any suggestions?

Now I'm thinking, based on what I've read, that a 1:30 ratio of pewter/pure lead, should be sufficient for my light reloads. I generally keep my cast bullets under 800 fps.
Any other input would be appreciated.
Go hit the yard sales and garage sales, look for pewter, pewter has a high tin content. Buy wheel weights from your local tire repair shop and mix them into your melt before you pour ingots. Hit up radiator repair shops and offer to clean their solder drip tank if you can keep the solder. Acid free solder is another source of tin, but it costs. Rotometals sells tin by the pound, expensive too.
