How can I ensure there will be no ricocheting on my metal target?
I stopped by my local metal smith and picked up a steel plate. It is not designed for shooting, but it's bullet proof and "dings" when shot. I am wondering what I can do to minimize the possibilities of a ricochet while firing at it. There is not stand. I plan on buring a small percentage of it and shooting it like that. What do I do to make it not ricochet.
I made on for myself using 1/4 inch diamond plate 12inches wide 18inches long. Made two legs and welded a rod acroos the top with welded rod behind plate. Rod goes through hole in legs to each side gravity forces it to lean away from me toward the bottom. Shooting 45cal at it over 700 rounds all bullets drop directly below the target(When target is struck) and you get the nice conformation noise when hit. Grab yourself a can of white spray paint and you have a fresh target whenever you want.
