I've been reading about telescopes and binoculars, and they say the bigger the diameter of the lens the sharper & brighter the image. Ex. an 8x80mm binoculars produce brighter and sharper images than an 8x20mm, though they have the same zoom power. Why doesn't Canon make a giant diameter lens to create super sharp photos?.. I've been using a dslr 12megapixel, but that much pixels is useless if you have a blurred image. Yeah thats how I put it: High-res blurred images.
I find non zoom lens make sharper images though.
Prime lenses ("non zoom lens") are capable of doing sharper images than a normal zoom (in the right hands) due to the higher quality components.
My 70-200 f/2.8L is bigger in diameter than the 75-300 f/3.5-5.6 (and weighs almost 3 times more) and produces sharper images but it comes at a hefty price (7 times more expensive).
There are "giant diameter" lenses...look at the Sigma 200-500 f/2.8...it is huge!!! BUT who wants to lug a 33 (thirty three) pound lens around all day?!?!?!?!?!?
Photography is more about photographer skill than equipment size. I have seen better photographs from a professional with a cheap camera (including a homemade pinhole camera), then I have with an amateur using an expensive camera.
If you are producing blurred photos, I would check the photographer first, and not blame the lens.
