The SPS Varmint weighs about 1 pound more than the SPS DM.... If you will be hunting this extra pound will feel like an extra 20 pounds after carrying it in the field a good part of the day....
If you haven't purchased one of these rifles and want it for tactical, target shooting or similar use then get the SPS Varmint --- It is chambered in .308 and .223 which the DM is not --- .308 and .223 are commonly used by police departments, snipers, target shooters as well as hunters.... Also these 2 cartridges are cheap in bulk where as the other chamber offerings are not......
