What to wear and what to bring to Big Bear?
We live in Southern California and will be taking our children (17 months and 8 years) to the snow (Big Bear) for the first time. We have never really experienced snow except just to touch it when we were younger and on a camping trip with our school so it has been a long time. I've purchased thermals for our whole family, big jackets (snow ones for the children), snow boots, wool socks, hat and gloves and will be going shopping tomorrow or this weekend for the rest (if I can even find anymore winter stuff). We're trying to find a sled or inner tube and I'm trying to find snow pants for the kids. Would it be okay to wear jeans (adults) since I cannot find any maternity snow pants and just wear our thermals underneath or would we get too wet? Thanks for your suggestions!
Try to avoid wearing anything cotton!! It just soaks up water and then you feel like your carting around a few extra pounds and you're cold. Polyester blends are really good. Snow pants are a plus if you're rolling around, tubing, ect. Wearing jeans really depends on what you're going to be doing.
