HELP! Quickly please, my fish is dieing?
My goldfish (comet) is dieing as of this very moment. I think it had swim bladder disease but now it's dieing. It's at the top of it's tank on it's side. It's not dead fully yet, because it's still breathing. It's strugling to swim to the bottom and when I put a spoon up against it, it doesn't swim away from it anymore like it usually does. I mixed the water around it's tank to get some oxygen circulating in it but it's still on it's side at the top. I changed the water, too. I'm trying to feed it shelled peas but it can't reach it since the peas sink to the bottom and it can't swim to the bottom. What should I do now? Wait for it's death? It's still laying on it's side, playing dead.
Sorry, your fish is on its last limb. It needs to live out the rest of its life. It is suffering, so it's your option whether to euthanize it or not. This may sound cruel, but it stops the pain. Put a cup of water in the freezer and wait for the top to be frozen over, but with water on the inside. Cut a hole big enough for the fish and drop it in. This freezes the fish, slowly and painlessly shutting down the organs. I am sorry for your loss.
