How does a thread on silencer work?
Alright well I'm getting a lot of upgrades for my tippmann 98, i want a thread on silencer to make it look nice, otherwise with the other barrel it looks really ugly and there is nothing else i want to put on. Can it go on any barrel? Or do i have to buy a special barrel?
thanks
I have a smart parts Spyder Progressive barrel.
That's a good question. The Silencers in paintball don't actually work. They are simply cosmetic, only for looks. Barrels that accept silencers are double threaded meaning they are threaded on one end to screw into the gun. The other end uses a special threading to accept the silencer. Normally you can only use a threadon silencer from the manufacturer that also makes the barrel. The silencer thread is not universal.
Here is a good article that might offer a little more info on paintball suppressors/silencers.
