Single action six shooter?
I have always wanted a six shooter. I am looking to get a nice one that I will be proud of and able to use for years before I am old and pass it along to my future kids or grandkids (when they are old enough obviously). I know that Colt is the classic brand but I am just curious what else would make a great deal for not a huge price. Uberti has some really nice looking single action western revolvers around the $500 range and that is what I was thinking about. It's hard to know without having shot one, if it's the right one! I'm looking for a model similar to the Uberti Single Action Cattleman or a Ruger Vaquero and I'd like to stick with a .45. Any suggestions?
For an hierloom, I would pick the 1875 Uberti Outlaw http://www.uberti.com/firearms/images/1875_army_outlaw_case_lg.jpg Its a real sweetheart. They even have a "Matched Set" if you want to hand them off to more than one of your kids someday. I myself am a Percussion Freak and have the 1858 Remington Colt Nickel/Gold version http://bprevolvers.tripod.com/Remington1of5000C.html but its a double edged sword so-to-speak because its just too damn nice to shoot. My Old Colt 3rd model Dragoon http://www.uberti.com/firearms/images/1848_3rd_model_dragoon_lg.jpg is my pride and joy though and is my standard six-shooter out in the woods. Yeah, its a big heavy old horse Pistol and a pain to clean after you shoot it, but the first time I shot it, I was hooked for life. Guess I watched way too many John Wayne Pictures as a kid
